Meet Sam / Co-owner & Coach

Your best days
don’t have to be
behind you.

Sam, co-owner and coach at Bridge MVMT Co.

Former Canadian national-team field hockey athlete. More than 15 years of coaching. A belief that you can keep building toward what’s next.

I work with curious, driven people who want to take part in life at a higher level—and want to understand how to get there.

You might want to feel stronger in everyday life, return to activities you’ve been avoiding, work toward less pain, or pursue a higher level of performance. My role is to understand where you are, identify what deserves attention, and help you build forward with purpose.

You don’t need to arrive fit, confident, or knowing what to do. Curiosity and a willingness to participate in the process are enough to start.

Explore how I coach ↓My approach to golf coaching ↓

01 / The reason behind the approach

Start with what
matters to you.

When you tell me you want to move better, I want to understand what that would make possible. Playing golf? Getting back to hockey? Finding everyday movement easier? And why does that matter to you?

Those questions give our work a purpose you can connect with. We work back from what you want to do and what it will take to get there.

Sleep, stress, work and home life all affect what you bring into a session. I ask about those things too. We build consistency through practice and commitment, while leaving room to adjust when life demands it.

02 / A system built around you

Your starting point.
Your next step.

Developed through more than 15 years of coaching.
Adapted to the person in front of me.

My approach connects five qualities that support what you want to do outside the studio. We use them to establish priorities, with your goals and current abilities guiding the plan.

01

Recovery

Support your ability to handle training and adapt to it.

02

Flexibility

Develop access to the positions your activities demand.

03

Mobility

Build active control of the movement available to you.

04

Balanced strength

Develop capacity across sides, movement patterns, and the ability to produce and absorb force.

05

Performance

Bring those abilities together for your sport and your everyday life.

You don’t need to perfect every foundation before doing something challenging. We build a plan that lets you train meaningfully today while developing the abilities that support your next step.

03 / Education in every session

Understand it.
Feel the difference.
Make it yours.

Good coaching has to make sense to you.

I want you to understand the purpose behind the movements we practise. We talk about what you’re noticing and why we’re working on it, so you can take an active part in the process and carry that understanding beyond our sessions.

My teaching sequence gives us a repeatable way to break that process down:

  1. BaseEstablish your setup and support.
  2. StackOrganise your position for the task.
  3. MoveMove deliberately through the repetition.
  4. OwnDemonstrate control in the position.
  5. ResetPrepare before the next repetition.

You’ll have something you can understand, practise, and apply with greater independence. Each detail connects back to the bigger picture: what you want your body to be capable of.

04 / Golf & physical performance

A golfer’s perspective.
A coach’s eye.

I’m a golfer myself. I understand the desire to improve, the frustration of inconsistency, and how easy it is to get caught up chasing the next swing adjustment.

As a movement and strength coach, I’m interested in the person making that swing. What movement do you have available? Where can you create and control rotation? How do you use the ground? Do you have the strength and capacity to repeat the task?

Those questions connect my passion for golf with the work I’ve spent more than 15 years developing.

Understand the body
behind your swing.

Golf asks your body to coordinate movement across multiple joints while producing speed and maintaining control. Knowing what you want your swing to do is one part of the process. Having the physical ability to explore that change is another.

We look at your ankles, knees, hips, and shoulders individually, alongside upper-back rotation, hip separation, hip and shoulder rotation, and how you use the ground. Through movement testing and observation, we explore your available range, your control, and where strength needs attention.

If you submit a swing video, we review it together and consider how the physical findings might relate to what you experience in your game.

Give your training
a reason.

A useful golf training plan needs to respond to the golfer in front of me.

One person may need more access to rotation. Another may have the range but struggle to control it. Someone else may need to develop strength or better manage the demands of practice, training, and playing.

We connect recovery, flexibility, mobility, and balanced strength to your golf goals, then build from what you can currently do. You’ll understand why we’re working on something, what to pay attention to, and how we’ll assess your progress.

Physical preparation + technical instruction

Give your lessons
more room
to work.

A golf professional can help you develop technique, make better decisions, and find effective ways to play within your current abilities.

But understanding a swing change and being physically able to perform it are different things.

If the movement, control, or strength a change requires is difficult for you, more instruction alone may not resolve that difficulty. You may need to develop the physical ability alongside the technical skill.

That’s where my coaching fits. We assess your movement, identify physical training priorities, and work to expand what you can access and control. Your golf professional guides the swing; I help you develop the physical capabilities that support that work.

Together, those approaches can give you more options—and more room to put your lessons into practice.

For the game you
want to keep playing.

I enjoy working with golfers who are curious about their bodies and willing to invest in their development.

You might want to play more comfortably, feel less restricted, develop strength and power, or finish a round feeling more physically capable. You might simply want to keep enjoying the game for years to come.

The goal gives our work direction. We identify the physical priorities, build a plan around them, and help you become a stronger, more capable participant in your own game.

05 / A client’s experience

Back to work.
Back to family.
Back to sport.

A dentist’s return to the activities that mattered to him.
Shared with permission.

One client came to me with persistent lower-back and neck pain that was affecting his ability to work comfortably.

He had received treatment that helped manage his symptoms, but he was still struggling with the demands of everyday life.

During his movement assessment, I identified substantial differences in strength between his right and left sides, alongside imbalances in his lower-body pushing and pulling strength. These findings gave us specific training priorities.

We progressively strengthened the areas where his capacity was limited and practised movement mechanics until they became more consistent and required less conscious effort. We adjusted the training based on how he moved, what he felt, and how he responded.

Over time, he reported that he no longer needed pain medication and was sleeping through the night. He could play with his children, run for enjoyment, and return to squash and recreational volleyball.

For him, progress meant having more freedom to participate in his life—and the strength and confidence to enjoy it.

Steve was still showing up for work, spending time with family and keeping up with responsibilities. But he was doing less for himself.

Even work around the farm came with the worry of how sore he would feel afterward. Filling his time with work had become easier.

When I asked Steve what stood out about working together, he talked about the questions.

They made him stop and think about what he wanted for himself. Having the space to talk helped him hear his own answers.

“You allowed me to say what I wanted to hear myself say.”

Steve

That’s an important part of how I coach. Wanting to move better is a starting point. I want to understand what that would make possible in someone’s life, and why it matters enough to make time for it.

For Steve, finding that personal purpose and committing to the process were both part of the work. He’s honest about wishing he had committed more fully to the time and effort earlier. Showing up mattered, and so did understanding what he was working towards.

He also began to understand the movements themselves: how to warm up for golf and hockey, and why each part mattered.

“You filled in all the whys.”

Steve

The changes showed up in everyday life and on the course: getting dressed more easily and hitting the golf ball more consistently. Training was connected to something personal: the things Steve wanted to keep doing for himself.

Individual, client-reported experience.

07 / Experience & education

Experience informs
the decisions.
You give them purpose.

Over my coaching career, I’ve helped hundreds of people work toward a life where pain no longer dictates what they can take part in. Many have discovered strength and ability they hadn’t realised they could develop.

My aim is for you to leave every session better equipped than when you arrived—with more understanding, more confidence, and a clearer sense of how to move forward.
